STAR Ministry
Little STAR is a "Special Time Activity Room" that serves many purposes for children, ages 4-12. It is a place where:
- a transition can occur for a new family (or visitor) who has a child with special needs
- we can get to know the child and how to best meet his or her needs
- respite care for children is provided (some children with special needs attend Sunday School during one service but need some down time for the other)
- shadow training and support is provided
It's also designed to be a resource for children who are attending Sunday School but may need a sensory break or other support.
Middle STAR is class for Teens and Pre-Teens with special needs, ages 12-16. This is a Sunday School class that provides a small intimate environment with the awareness of sensory integration. We use the TEACCH method to include worship, bible study, activities, prayer, and social interaction. We meet during the 11:00 hour in room 765.
Adult STAR is a Connect Group for adults with special needs. This class meets Sunday mornings lead by Tim Francis. We provide a safe, loving, and fun environment. We worship in song and study, God's word, and teaching practical applications. It also provides a social environment to connect, make friends, and engage to the best of all abilities. We meet during the 11:00 hour in room 764.
